The school needs an extension

The capacities of the primary school that was built in 2001 are unfit to meet the high demands. For a while now the school has not only been attended by the children of Gando itself but also by the children from the surrounding villages since some of the schools that had been built by the government as provisional measure have already collapsed and were of course abandoned.

This means that Gando's small school with its three classrooms is unable now to shelter all the students who want to attend school. Although the building was originally intended for 120 students now it is attended by 300. Because of that the old school building (originally a provisional measure) has been reopened although it now stands in imminent danger of collapse.

Another reason for the extension to the school is the given norm in Burkina Faso that demands that a primary school must have at least six classrooms.
